Jolly Starters 1
Age: 3 - 4 years
An introduction to reading for younger students. We focus on decoding short 3 letter words, and blending sounds together to form words. Each week there is a 10 word spelling list, and over the course we look at 120 words in total. We also revise and strengthen their knowledge of the letter sounds learnt from the Jolly Phonics course.

Jolly Starters 2
Age: 3 - 4 years
This course follows on from Jolly Starters 1. We broaden their vocabulary and introduce them to more 4-letter words. At this stage we introduce a little more writing and ask them to ‘sound out’ words in order to write them down.

Jolly Reading 1
Age: 4+ Years
Each week students learn a group of words that focus on a particular sound or topic, for example, the letter combination /ff/ or ‘Days of the week’. Two ‘tricky words’ are also introduced each week, and students learn 24 tricky words over the duration of the course.

Jolly Reading 2
Age: 4+ Years
We introduce students to ‘long vowels and the magic-e’: /a_e/ /i_e/ /o_e/ and /u_e/.
We also introduce the alternative spellings of long vowel sounds: /ai/ay/
/ee/ea/ /ie/igh/ /ie/y/ /oa/ow/ and /ue/ew/. Again, the spelling lists introduce 8 words a week, and 2 tricky words per week (over the whole course - 96 words, and 24 tricky words).
